The U Antenna

The inverted U antenna analyzed here consists of a 25' vertical section, a 50' horizontal section, then a vertical section on the far side, dropping down vertically 24' to within 1' of the ground.

At 530 kHz the Impedance = 0.1596 - J 1545 ohms
At 1700 kHz the Impedance = 1.887 - J 293.7 ohms

The antenna is fed on the left side of these plots, on the side where the green dot is located. Maximum gain is directly opposite the direction the antenna appears to be pointed. For an antenna that points from West to East, the maximum gain will be toward the West.
